Ashgabat Park: a Symbol of Friendship Between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan

Ashgabat Park in Tashkent was built in April 2018 to celebrate the friendship between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan - it is named after the Turkmen capital. The park occupies an area of 12 hectares and is divided into two zones: walking and entertainment.

The park features a tall Ferris wheel with air-conditioned cabins. Turkmenistan's main symbols, an octagonal star and a horse, are prominently used in the park's architecture and decoration. Visitors are greeted at the entrance by a star-shaped fountain with a herd of stallions, with a larger version in the park's central area. It's one of the lesser known attractions in Tashkent.

A staircase and a covered escalator lead to the park's entrance, which features an impressive gate with the park's name. The green space is designed as a rectangular area encircling a running and cycling path bordered by bushes. On the opposite side, there is an indoor amphitheater with an auditorium, shaped like a bird flying into a nest—a miniature replica of the new Ashgabat airport.

Concerts and festive events are held here. The park includes flower beds, hedges, benches, modern art sculptures like a chess field, food stalls, and two public toilets.

Turning to the right, visitors will find a second zone with 60 attractions and slot machines. In addition to the Ferris wheel, there is a large area for karting. The entertainment constructions cater to all ages, from a small train for children to a roller coaster for adults. Shops selling fast food and souvenirs are scattered throughout this area, and there are several ticket counters.

In the evening, artificial lighting is turned on, illuminating sculptures of cartoon and comic characters such as Spider-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Puss in Boots. There is a parking lot adjacent to the park that accommodates hundreds of cars.
