Where to Stay in Tashkent: Best Areas and Hotels

Feature image

Tashkent is a large, sprawling city, and choosing the right area can make a real difference to how easy and enjoyable your stay is.

Most visitors find it simplest to stay close to a metro station, particularly in central neighbourhoods, where tourist attractions, restaurants, and transport links are easy to reach.

Below are the main areas visitors tend to stay in, along with well-known hotels in each and what you can realistically expect.

Amir Temur Square & Central Tashkent

Lotte City Palace Hotel and State History Museum

This is the traditional city centre and a popular choice for first-time visitors.

You’re close to museums, theatres, green spaces, and several metro lines, making it a practical base for exploring the city.

Mirabad (Oybek & Kosmonavtlar area)

Mirabad Avenue, one of the most stylish streets in the city

Mirabad is one of the most comfortable areas to stay in, especially if you want a neighbourhood that feels lived-in rather than tourist-focused.

It’s well connected by metro and known for its cafés, restaurants, and everyday amenities.

It’s also very close to the city’s main train station.

The area between Oybek and Kosmonavtlar metro stations is particularly convenient.

Tashkent City & City Park

Tashkent City Mall and Park

This is Tashkent’s newest district, built around Tashkent City Park and the adjacent Tashkent City Mall and business areas. The shopping mall is one of the largest in Central Asia and home to many popular international brands.

This area is clean, modern, and very easy, though it feels more international than local.

Old Town & Chorsu Area

The Gardens of Kokeldash Madrasa

Staying near Chorsu Bazaar puts you closer to Tashkent’s historic core, with mosques, markets, and traditional neighbourhoods nearby.

Here you can buy souvenirs and get lost in Chorsu Bazaar, explore Tashkent’s religious history at the Khazrati Imam Complex, and check out the beautiful and calm gardens of the Kokeldash Madrasa.

It’s less polished than central Tashkent but offers a more local atmosphere and you can find good value for money here.
