Alisher Navoi Museum of Literature, Tashkent

The Alisher Navoi Museum of Literature is a state museum located in the Shaikhontokhur district. It serves as a scientific, educational, and cultural institution celebrating the works of Timurid poet and linguist Alisher Navoi.

Founded in 1939, the museum features manuscripts that reflect the centuries-old history of Uzbek literature, historical documents, paintings, and various photographic materials. The museum's first exhibition, dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Alisher Navoi, the founder of Uzbek literature, was held in 1939.

In 1967, the museum received the status of a scientific and educational institution under the decree "on the Museum of Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan." It displays the best examples of national literature and cultural monuments with a thousand-year history.

The museum's collection continues to grow, with a manuscript fund and a repository of old printed books, exceeding 2,000 titles, including rare and unique works of national poets and classical writers. The archive of modern Uzbek writers and poets includes over 65,000 documents dating from the 19th century to the present.

Visitors to the museum can view portraits of writers and poets whose names grace the streets and avenues of cities in Uzbekistan.
