Tashkent Metro is the first underground transport system in Central Asia. Uzbekistan currently has five metro lines: Uzbekistan Line, Chilanzar Line, Yunusabad Line, Sergeli Line and the Thirty Years of Independence circular, which is still under construction. The metro service operates daily from 06:00 to 00:00.
The beauty and uniqueness of each metro station makes the metro one of the most popular things to do in Tashkent. A ticket costs only 2,000 som (around $0.15), making it an incredibly cheap tourist attraction.
The entrances to metro stations are marked with the "metro" logo. Metro tokens can be purchased at the station entrances. Today, Tashkent Metro is a major attraction for tourists and the most convenient mode of transport for residents, especially during morning and evening rush hours.
For the safety of passengers, security personnel inspect the bags of those carrying large luggage at the entrance to the metro.
